Are you opening the Inspector (⌘+i) and under that panel, select the pencil tool. There will be a list of annotations and select the Note annotation. Press the delete key. It will vanish in the Inspector but may linger in the PDF until you click outside of it on a blank area of the PDF.
Tested: macOS 11.3.1.

How to delete a note which was added to a pdf in the Preview app? Since I've updated to Big Sur I cannot remove these little yellow notes which I added to pdf documents in the Preview App. Before I could delete them in the sidebar. Does someone know how to remove notes?
Empty thumbnail in a Notes entry I have an entry in my notes that perhaps (I'm not sure) once contained an image, but now it doesn't have any image, drawing or table. The blank thumbnail in the title, however, persists. This is annoying, as the title is truncated. How do I get rid of the spurious thumbnail? Thanks. Arnd
